This exquisite Italian floor lamp from the early 19th century features a green painted wooden column supporting a carved Corinthian capital of tan color with acanthus leaves and volutes typical of this classical order. While the eye is immediately drawn to the capital supporting the authentic wax candle sleeve, it then proceeds to follow down the column to discover a lovely and delicate floral decor. The attention to the details is quite obvious in the back, as we discover that the flower arrangement is maintained by a carved ring. The central column sits firmly on a round wooden base, giving perfect stability. It has been rewired for the US and is ready to be plugged. The width noted below is for the base and the height goes to the top of the socket. This Italian wooden carved floor lamp, circa 1800 (or earlier) is a demonstration of the Italian elegance and refinement that we love so much. It would be a great addition to any home.
