Victorian Sterling Silver Match Box or Pill, Gold Wash Interior by Alfred Taylor, Birmingham, England C1857.

A superbly made and very finely engraved match box with strike plate made from sterling silver with a 24ct gold interior wash. Alfred Taylor was a very highly regarded silversmith of the time. The item is in excellent condition with no repairs, the lid is closes tightly and the interior is gilded. A perfect gift for a cigar smoker or a collector of such items. Could be used as a pill box if desired.
Not monogramed on the reverse.
Anchor hallmark donates Birmingham, England. Dated 1857 by the letter “I”. Alfred Taylor operated from 1853-1870. (Registered Nov 1851)
