This beautiful table was made in rural Spain in the early 19th century. It was completely traditionally made in solid chestnut. The top was made from a single piece of wood and displays an intricate grain pattern typical for chestnut wood. The top was joined to the base by hand-forged steel nails. The table is fitted with two drawers with elevated front panels with hand-forged steel drawer pulls. The table has simple square legs joined by stretchers. The legs clearly show the traditional mortise and tenon joints. The coffee table has a dark warm brown color with a great patina and deep gloss. The table shows many marks of use throughout. The table is solid, clean, and ready for use.
