A large and bespoken stoneware centerpiece platter in sculptural form by Japanese ceramic artist Ryuichi Kakurezaki (1950-) circa 2000s. Made in Bizen ware tradition in a thick slab form with corrugated ends, it is substantial in weight. The surface was marbleized with contrasting textures and carved lines, partial splashed red ash glaze and scattered embedded feldspars.
Kakurezaki was born in Nagasaki, Kyushu Island. He lives and works in Imbe, the ancient home of Bizen ware.
