The fine marble top supported on a white painted frieze with parcel gilt decorative details of typical Empire type and very fine quality. These details incorporate Grecian revival classical motifs such as acanthus, six petalled flowers and scrolling foliage and the frieze is banded in gilt at the top and bottom. Three scrolling supports terminating in lions’ paw feet descend to a tripartite platform supported on bun toes.
The colour of the gilding coordinates beautifully with the yellow highlights in the marble, producing a rich yet restrained effect. The gilding has aged beautifully and the variation in colour is extremely desirable. This is a very superior model of table.
