Large Vintage Indonesian Burnt Orange and Indigo Figural Batik in Silve Faux Bamboo Frame

Exquisite vintage Indonesian batik featuring a male and female figure in traditional dress. The brilliantly colored South Asian batik shows two figures, potentially in courtship. The topless figures both wear traditional head dress. Lively patterns of purple, orange, and yellow captivate the viewer. The colors evoke a sort of magical ambiance. Perhaps this scene is taking place at sunset with a seemingly fire-lit sky. It is clear that this piece was treasured by the previous owner. The framing is second to none! The burnt orange matte appears to be suede or velvet – a costly upgrade from typical board mattes. The frame itself is a thick faux bamboo with metallic finish. Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to the whole cloth. This technique originated from the island of Java, Indonesia.
